The Ultimate Jordan Trip

Welcome to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, founded by King Abdullah I, and currently ruled by King Abdullah II son of the late King Hussein. Jordan has grown into a stable, peaceful and modern country. While Jordan is known for the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, carved from rock over 2000 years ago, it also offers much more for the modern traveller, from the Jordan Valley, fertile and ever changing, to the remote desert canyons, immense and still. Whether you are a thrill seeker, a historian, or you just want to relax, Jordan is the perfect trip to enjoy local history, culture and amazing hospitality.

Itinerary

Day 1

Amman Airport – Dead Sea

Meet and assist by Jordan Skies representative upon arrival at Amman Queen Alia International Airport, drive to Dead Sea: At 431m below sea level – the lowest point on earth.

The Dead Sea is a body of intense blue water, polished smooth like oiled skin on a windless day in winter and ruffled into whitecaps by the summer winds.

The Dead Sea has attracted numerous visitors from around the world for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world's first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilisers. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets over the years.

Day 2

Dead Sea - Wadi Rum - Sunset Jeep adventure- Petra

Breakfast at the Hotel, free time till afternoon, then transfer to Wadi Rum which is everything you’d expect of a quintessential desert: it is extreme in summer heat and winter cold; it is violent and moody as the sun slices through chiselled siqs (canyons) at dawn or melts the division between rock and sand at dusk; it is exacting on the Bedouin who live in it and vengeful on those who ignore its dangers.

For most visitors, on half- or full-day trips from Aqaba or Petra, Wadi Rum offers one of the easiest and safest glimpses of the desert in the region. It is an unforgettable way of stripping the soul back to basics.

Day 3

Enjoy Petra & then head to Amman

Breakfast at the hotel, head to the site to visit Petra: Top choice archaeological site in Petra. The spectacular sandstone city of Petra was built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabataeans, who carved palaces, temples, tombs, storerooms and stables from the soft stone cliffs.

Today it is a World Heritage Site that needs little introduction; suffice to say, no visit to Jordan is complete without exploring the remarkable Ancient City.

The Ancient City is approached through the 1.2km-long, high-walled Siq – a crack in the rock, torn apart by tectonic forces. Just as you start to think there’s no end to the Siq, you catch breathtaking glimpses ahead of the most impressive of Petra’s sights, the Treasury, known locally as Al Khazneh.

Carved out of iron-laden sandstone to serve as a tomb, the Treasury gets its name from the misguided local belief that an Egyptian pharaoh hid his treasure in the top urn. The Greek-style pillars, alcoves and plinths are truly masterpieces of masonry work. Transfer to the hotel in Aqaba for overnight

Day 4

Enjoy the city of Amman before departing

Amman is a great example of providing many modern luxuries, while still retaining its uniquely Jordanian in cultural and historical relevance. The ever-expanding city, originally built on seven hills, dates back to the Stone Age when our Neolithic ancestors roamed the earth. Amman exemplifies the evolution, development and survival of a small city through its expansions during the Early Bronze Age, its development as a city state through the Iron Age and into its role in Assyrian, Babylonian and Persian empires.

The city, known by several different names such as Amman, Ammon, Rabath-Ammon and Philadelphia, played key-roles in multiple civilizations.

Many travelers enjoy the ancient ruins—the historic Amman Citadel, the Roman Temple of Hercules, and the 8th-century Umayyad Palace complex.

Enjoy your final day exploring the beautiful sites and historical palaces.
