Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Cochin

Arrive Kochi, earlier known as Cochin is also known as Gateway of Kerala, Queen of the Arabian Sea. You will be received at airport by our office representative who will be holding placard in your name. Transfer to hotel (room available from 14h00 onwards). Overnight at hotel.

Day 2

In Cochin

Start your tour with leisurely walk in Fort Cochin. While passing through one of its streets like Princess Street, Rose Street or Burger Street you will come across many residences of Anglo-Indian communities.

You will also visit St Francis’ Church with faded-yellow edifice and its stunning stained glass windows. Church was constructed in 1503 and is considered to be India’s oldest European built church. Here the Portuguese explorer, Vasco Da Gama was buried for 14 years before his remains were taken to Lisbon.

Not to forget stopping by the most photographed Chinese fishing nets as these are said to be introduced to the fishermen in the 14th century by the Chinese explorer named Zheng He.

Proceed to Mattancherry Island where you will explore old Jewish street full of shops selling antique and spices.

Visit the Jewish Synagogue built in 1568 (closed for visitors on Fridays, Saturdays and during Jewish holidays).

Visit Mattancherry Palace was built by the Portuguese in 1555 as a gift to the King of Cochin in exchange for trading rights. It was renovated in 1663 by Dutch and hence also called Dutch Palace. Inside you will find 17th century beautiful intricate colourful murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata painted with vegetable and mineral based colours and pine resin.

In the evening, you have option of attending a performance of Kathakali

Kathakali is a ultural dance drama. One of the oldest dance forms in the country is known for its colourful dresses, face paintings and strong use of facial expression to narrate a story from Mahabharata and Ramayana. At the dance center, you can also watch performers get ready for the show.

Day 3

Cochin / Devalokam Homestay (approx 3 hrs drive)

Morning drive to Kodikulam for 2 nights stay at Dewalokam homestay.

Dewalokam is a truly unique way to relax and unwind in its peaceful and unspoiled heaven. Enjoy their home grown produce freshly cooked as you sample gourmet traditional Keralan food and join the professional chefs in our state-of-the-art kitchen in informal learn-to-cook sessions.

You stay is on Full Board (breakfast + lunch + dinner) and inclusive of activities like Yoga 7:30 am to 8:30 am, Cooking Demo at 6:00 pm, Spice Walk, Village Walk, Forest Walk (Nov-April)/Waterfall Visit (July - Nov).

Day 4

At Devalokam Homestay

Host family is passionate about food and traditional Keralan cooking and its professional chefs will lovingly prepare three meals for you everyday, which is included in the price of your stay. If you have particular food requirements the chefs will be pleased to accommodate them.The area is tucked away beyond commercial rubber plantations in a secluded haven.

Bounded by a tranquil river and nature reserve, you can choose to be as active or as relaxed as you wish, away from the bustle of tourist India.

Day 5

Devalokam Homestay / Munnar (approx 3hrs drive)

This morning head up through the Western Ghats to Munnar, the tea country and former British hill station. Located at around 1700 meters above sea level, is surrounded by the high peaks and several of the highest tea estates in the world.

In the afternoon visit Tea Museum (subject to opening timings) to understand the history of tea and Munnar. Later enjoy scenic walk through the plantation.

(sightseeing schedule of Munnar would be finalised depending on the hotel location at the the time of booking tour incase envisaged hotel is not available)

Overnight at hotel.

Munnar, located at around 1700 meters above sea level, is the former British hill station.

Day 6

In Munnar

The hills and forests around Munnar offer numerous nature trails and routes that are ideal for treks and soft hikes. Terrains vary and routes pass over mountains, through forests and valleys, towering peaks and plantations. Spend this morning taking nature walk with guide..

Afternoon free to relax at hotel or participate in activities arranged by hotel.

Overnight at hotel.

Savour the day at your pace and liking at Windermere. Gaze at a beautiful sunrise, enjoy an evening bonfire barbecue or just spend some time uninterrupted in the library. There is a lot Windermere has to offer and a lot more to discover by your-self.

Day 7

Munnar / Backwaters (approx 5 hours drive)

This morning travel to the Backwaters of Kerala. Board your traditional private rice barge - Kettuvallam.

Lunch will be served on arrival.

Spend your afternoon and evening relaxing. Be a witness to unhurried daily life at the palm-fringed banks of backwaters, as you flat around the waterways.

(Houseboat is anchored from sunset to sunrise because of fishing nets)

Dinner and overnight on board Houseboat.

Kettuvallam, the large boat of yesteryears. In Malayalam, 'kettu' means to tie and 'vallom' means boat. These boats were held together with rope and hence the name.

Day 8

Backwaters / Mararikulam (30 min drive)

Wake up on your houseboat and enjoy breakfast before disembarking. Your driver will meet you at disembarking point and will drive you to a charming and friendly fishing village lined with palm trees and a tranquil beach, a perfect place to end your India trip.

Day 9

In Mararikulam

Spend your day reading a book, taking a refreshing dip in the sea or sunbathe by the pool or just laze by the pool side.

You may also opt for Ayurveda massage (on direct payment basis).

Day 10

Mararikulam / Cochin airport (approx 2 hours drive)

In time transfer to airport to Cochin airport to connect flight to next destination or fly back home.

  • Lunch and Dinner during the tour (other than during stay in Houseboat and homestay).
  • Any insurance cover or airport taxes.
  • Any other services not mentioned in the inclusions.
