Northern Portugal Walk & Sensation

Walking through mountain villages with centuries-old traditions, enjoying the bucolic landscapes of the National Park, tasting the unique flavors of the region's local cuisine and relaxing in the most luxurious hotels at the Alto Minho region. This is the experience we offer you on this unforgettable tour! The Peneda-Gerês National Park was created in 1971 and forms part of the National Network of Protected Areas, administered by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature, Biodiversity and Forestry (ICNF). The area is officially classified as a National Park (the only protected area in Portugal granted this classification) due to the existence of relatively extensive ecosystems which have not been significantly affected by man. The park features considerable biodiversity and natural values of interest to conservation. Alto Minho has substantial Celtic influences and shares many cultural traits with neighbouring Galicia in Northwestern Spain. The region was part of the Roman Province and early Germanic medieval Kingdom of Gallaecia. Historical remains of Celtic Iron Age and Gallaecian native stronghold are present in the Entre Douro e Minho region, in North Portugal. Minho is famous as being the origin of the soup caldo verde and Vinho Verde, a wine particular to the region.

Carlos Moreira

I was born in Venezuela in 1967 and I´m the owner and guide of Honovitours. Since my youth, I had the taste for nature through camping with friends and family. At the age of 18, I discovered the pull towards mountaineering, I then became a climber and now I have climbed mountains from across all five continents on our precious planet earth.

Travel gives us our greatest stories, our most cherished memories and countless irreplaceable learnings that we can choose to pay forward to others. It teaches us about ourselves and each other, it broadens our horizons and, just like a reset button, it forces us to refocus on what really matters.

What travel means to me…leave our world a better place, meet different cultures, to learn, to escape reality, to relax, to explore, for humility, to eat, to be transformed, to live out your bucket list dreams and to get to know you and show you our beautiful country where people are hospitable, fun, simple, live with an open heart, where Fado is Portuguese, where you will find the best wines in the world, where gastronomy is unique and the landscapes are so amazing that you will miss them after witnessing them and embracing our Portugal!

I am a professional in mountaineering activities and since 1998 I started to guide Portuguese groups in Portugal and Spain. In 2010, I became an official mountain guide through the Portuguese National Mountaineering school in which I have the certificate of hiking monitor.

I hope that my programs please you and that I have the opportunity to share with you the moments and places of scenic and cultural interest in our beautiful territory.
