Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival Day on the Island of Roatan

Once your plane lands on Roatan Island, the resort is just a 15 minute shuttle ride away from the airport, and the resort provides airport transfers. Once you arrive at the resort, consider yourself on Island Time.

Check in with the resort's reception and enjoy a Welcome Cocktail, then head to your room and get settled in. Relax before dinner, sort out your dive gear, talk with the dive shop and get your dive documents in order. Enjoy dinner and get ready for a day full of diving starting on Day 2

A non-touristy retreat! Island time!

Activities

  • Scuba
  • Kayak & Paddle Board
Day 2-3

Grab your dive gear & let's scuba

The resort's PADI 5-Star Dive Center is prepared to give all their visitors a unique and tailored dive experience. Guests can expect to have up to three single tank dives a day with this package. Two single tank boat night dives and shore dives are included as well. Dive sites such as The Odyssey, one of the largest shipwrecks in the Caribbean, a relaxed shark dive off the southern coast, and "El Aguila" cargo wreck that sits at a depth of 100 feet are all common sights. For shore dives, the dive shack on Anthony’s Key is staffed and equipped with air tanks for easy beach access to “Front Porch” reef, a vital area of the reef ecosystem.

Among the varied seascape, you may observe eel, grouper, and octopus as they descend to depths of 40 feet or more, as well as schools of blue tangs, parrotfish, angelfish, damselfish, sea fans, star coral, and brain coral. In addition, a small plane wreck in the lagoon at 30 feet is an excellent training tool for students and novice divers.

On Sunday (Day 2) make your way to the Roatan Institute of Marine Science (RIMS) Classroom where you can attend a fish ID slide show starting at 6 PM.

This is a great way to start your vacation week and learn more about the variety of fish you will see at the Roatan dive sites. After your dives on Monday (Day 3) get into the Caribbean Spirit and enjoy twice-weekly live music, dancing, and an array of locally inspired cocktails at the Frangipani Bar!

Optional Activities

  • Zip Line
  • Shark Dive
  • Dolphin Encounter
Day 4-5

Scuba diving & the Island Fiesta

Start your day with the morning boat dives and once you're done diving, there is still plenty to do above water. You can soak up every opportunity to explore Roatan, or just settle back, relax and drink it all in. Whether you’re an athletic explorer or a sedentary sojourner, we have an activity for you. If you wish to stay close to your home base, glide around our tranquil lagoon in your kayak or stand-up paddle to nearby Bailey’s Key and enjoy lazing on the sequestered beach.

Enjoy local music and cultural dances during our Island Fiesta Night or sample signature cocktails at the Frangipani Bar. Blissful treatments at Ixora Spa and lounging poolside are other onsite diversions.

Skip your afternoon dives on Tuesday (Day 4) and try out a Standup Paddle board. Try out the latest craze in above-the-water sports while at Anthony’s Key with Stand-up Paddle boarding or ‘SUP’ for short. This new fun way to enjoy the ocean allows you to glide across the water on large surf-style boards and long paddles to enjoy a 360-degree view only achieved while standing upright. Stand-up paddling is so comfortable and relaxing, you won’t feel like you are doing a sport!

Wednesday (Day 5) evening you’ll enjoy a fun night of dining, games, and live entertainment during the “Island Fiesta” on the key! A limbo contest and hermit crab races make for great fun along with special performances by native Garifuna Dancers and a live local band.

Day 6-7

Just another day in paradise

You still have a lot of fish to meet and amazing dives to see so that will fill your morning again. But all that diving is a lot of fun but can also be exhausting!

Maybe on Thursday (Day 6) you want to treat yourself to the day spa. Enjoy muscle-soothing massages and be invigorated with other exquisite treatments and exceptional services at Ixora Spa. Enjoy massages and wraps, miraculous facials, and the most luxurious of spa pedicures and manicures.

And you will be ready for Friday's (Day 7) morning dives. You may want to participate in the Dolphin Experience one afternoon. Here you can lie back in a lounge chair on a peaceful cozy beach or access great snorkelling on the key’s west side.

The Dolphin lagoon is also located on Bailey’s Key, where you can interact with these highly intelligent marine mammals. Freshwater showers, changing facilities, and restrooms are conveniently located in the center of the key.

Friday night let the Caribbean Spirit lift your soul, enjoy twice-weekly live music, dancing, and an array of locally inspired cocktails at the Frangipani Bar!

Greg Carter

Owner, Greg Carter, grew up on the California coast where surfing was THE sport, Beachboys THE music, and scuba diving was an adventure for those few brave souls. Greg's hero was Mike Nelson, played by Lloyd Bridges, on the TV show "Sea Hunt." Some 40 plus years later, scuba diving has made great advances in equipment and safety, but the same passion for adventure still lives in our hearts.

Fast forward 20 years from the days of "Sea Hunt" and Greg found himself at Jack's Diving Locker, Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, signing up for an open water scuba class. Diving became a real life adventure and a Rescue Diver card. After 10 years of diving the Hawaiian waters, Greg returned to San Francisco and founded the Oceanic Resource Foundation to pursue marine conservation and education.

With some 25 years of scuba diving under his weight belt, Greg continues the adventure with Liquid Diving Adventures, to share exotic destinations near and far and meet creatures large and small. From tiny lettuce slugs to whale sharks, gentle giants of the sea, we are amazed by every dive and the variety of life in the oceans.
