Itinerary

Day 1

Cape Town – Mossel Bay

Depart from Cape Town and drive eastwards via the beautiful coastal route between Gordon’s Bay and Hermanus, a seaside holiday town (Hermanus is the best place in the World to spot Whales from land – July to Dec).

After lunch, we drive on to Mossel Bay. Here we visit the oldest post office in Africa, the Post Office Tree, which was also the site of the first landfall made by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Dias, in 1488

Travel along the beautiful coastal route between Gordon’s Bay and Hermanus - a seaside holiday town!

Day 2

Mossel Bay - Oudtshoorn

We travel over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Little Karoo to visit an Ostrich Farm or some unique experiences, including a farm tour and ostrich lunch. We visit the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa's foremost natural wonders. The fascinating calcite caves comprises of an underground wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites. Visit Oudtshoorn, also called the "Feather capital" of the world, as over ninety percent of the world's ostrich farms are found here.

Day 3

Oudtshoorn - Knysna

It is an early start at dawn for a Meerkat Experience. Witness these incredible wild habituated creatures emerging out of their burrows, just in time to soak up the sun before they head about their daily activities. Meerkats, are also referred to as the Suricate or in German as the Erdmännchen and are known to be part of the Mongoose family.

After breakfast, we visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Valley of Ancients, an “endangered species breeding facility” extraordinaire. We then head off to George and Knysna. The town of Knysna is situated on the edge of the Knysna Lagoon; its entrance to the sea is guarded by two promontories known as the "Heads". The area also falls within a National Park; proclaimed to conserve the extraordinary natural beauty of the Lakelands and adjacent indigenous forests. Knysna also offers shopping opportunities of unusual locally made art and craft, etc. We join a sundowner cruise on the lagoon.

Day 4

Knysna – Tsitsikamma National Park - Knysna

After breakfast, we make our way to the Knysna Elephant Park where you will be able to walk/feed these gentle giants. Truly, an amazing experience. We then head off to the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Our next stop will be “the Big Tree” - largest Outeniqua Yellowwood tree in the area with a circumference of 8.5m and a height of 36m (believed to be between 850 – 1000 years old). This is one of the largest tree species we have in South Africa and one of the most beautiful!

En-route we will stop at Bloukrans Bridge to view the world’s highest bungee jump bridge (216 meters). There will be plenty of time for the adventure seekers among you to test their courage.

Late morning will be spent in the Tsitsikamma National Park with its unique combination of indigenous forest and beautiful Indian Ocean coastline. The park has a wide choice of activities on offer for all, including long and short hikes, treetop canopy tours, crossing a suspension bridge and swimming. We will take a short walk (900m) to the suspension bridges. Here you will enjoy amazing views of mountain and ocean! Great photo opportunity! We lunch in the park. The late afternoon is free time and you can explore the Knysna Waterfront.

Day 5

Knysna - Cape Town

We depart for Cape Town early morning, just after breakfast!

We stop at one of the many well-known farm stalls along the way to buy some typical “South African” treats. We also do a wine tasting and stop for lunch. We arrive in Cape Town in the late afternoon and our tour ends!
